Abstract

SCARLETT, MD; CRAWFORD-SYKES, A  and  HARDING, HE. The development of anaesthetic services in Jamaica. West Indian med. j. [online]. 2012, vol.61, n.1, pp. 73-75. ISSN 0043-3144.

The development of anaesthetic services in Jamaica arose out of the recognition that dedicated physicians offered a better morbidity/mortality profile to patients. From untrained personnel offering anaesthesia at the turn of the 20thcentury, much progress has been made, such that specialized anaesthetists have been trained for the various surgical subspecialties.

Keywords : Anaesthesia training; anaesthetic services; improve outcome.
